Why Do We Get Sick?

Emma Peyton Lindsay and Matt

Viruses are caused by bacteria, bacteria can be spread by not washing your hands and then touching something that has a bacteria on it then transferring it into the body. The earliest physicians thought that illness and disease were a sign of God's anger or the work of evil spirits. Some viruses are caused by fungi, some viruses are caused by a bacteria. Viruses like small pox, Ebola and other viruses are still kept.  Some of the worst viruses are being kept safe in a facility called the CDC (United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) they keep all the diseases and viruses safe so that it can’t be realest. You can also get sick from eating food that is out of date. There are many deadly viruses.  Some people can get sick easier than others for example babies can get sick faster than adults can. The CDC is so protected, that the glass on the outside is rocket proof because if any terrorist were to try and cause a world pandemic it would be 99.9% impossible because the CDC is Rocket proof. We get sick because when a new cell such as the bacteria enters the body the body doesn’t know how to react. Some people can be sick for months if not treated with proper assistance. There are more than 100, 000, 00 people sick in the US every year. The only way that the CDC can be destroyed is if there is a major threat to the country or it goes into shut down mode.
Why Can’t We See Air?
By: Grace &  Heaven!

All air around us is made of gasses. The gasses don’t absorb light and appear transparent. Gasses are made of atoms, the atoms are so small and tiny so they can’t interfere with light. Air is composed of mostly oxygen, nitrogen, and other gasses which make up the earth.  When a light shines through the air you will usually see molecules in the air. Air is something we breathe. You can see something when light reflects off of an object . a gas not a solid object so light goes through it. The scientific word for air is oxygen.

What Are Skittles Made Out Of?
Emily, Keely, Alison and Jumah

The ingredients inside the skittle are sugar, corn syrup, hydrogenated palm kernel oil, fruit juice, citric acid and natural and artificial flavors. The skittle has a hard sugar shell with the letter s on the front. The letter s on the front of the skittle stands for skittle. All the colours of skittles are red, blue, brown, green, yellow, orange, pink, orange, black and cream. There is a commercial about skittles with different catch phrases in each one all ending in taste the rainbow. There is carnauba wax in skittles. Skittles was created by a British company and was first available in 1974.  The shell is just hardened sugar with artificial dye covering it in a colour.  In 1979 the USA began importing skittles. There are different kinds of skittles other than original such as, sour, tropical and wild berry. The company that makes M&MS are rivals with the company who makes skittles. In 1980 the company who makes skittles attempted to steal the M&Ms recipe but the wrong recipe was stolen so the skittle was then made. Each day over 200, 000 000 skittles are made making enough to give each kid in the USA at least one skittle. The idea of sour skittles was stolen from sour patch kids.

Why Does Milk Go Sour?
By Ben, Harper, Cody and Braydon

Milk comes from a cow. Milk contains sugar it is called lactose. When we drink it gets reproduced. When it stays in the air it turns into lactic acid (AKA bacteria). Milk doesn’t always come from a cow sometimes it comes from goats. Milk contains bacteria not as good for humans. It is caused by getting warm or being in the air. You can buy sour milk at the store. Milk has bacteria and little bugs. When it gets chunky it goes bad. You will know it’s bad when it moves slowly. It can go sour before it gets expired. Sense milk is sweet when it goes bad it goes sour.

WHY DOES DIRTY SNOW MELT FASTER THAN CLEAN SNOW?
By Tyson

CLEAN SNOW IS WHITER SO IT REFLECTS LIGHT OFF OF IT WHILE DIRTY SNOW IS LESS WHITE THEREFORE ABSORBS SOME LIGHT TO MAKE IT HAVE A LITTILE COLOUR.-WHEN THERE IS DIRT ON THE SNOW THE SUNS HEAT GET ABZORBED BUT WHEN THE SNOW IS CLEAN IT GETS REFLECTED INSTEAD. - OK THIS ONE IS FAIRLY UNDERSTANDABLE AND EASY THE PRINCIPLE OF ABSORBING AND REFLECTING THE HEAT RAYS OF THE SUN MORE QUICKLY THEN CLEAN SNOW. SO DIRTY SNOW MELTS FASTER THAN CLEAN SNOW. SNOW IS AMONG THE NATURAL SURFACES ON EARTH AND THEREFORE REFLECTS MOST SOLAR RADIATION .

Why Do We Get Sick?
By: James
There is another name for "Sickness", that is called "Virus". There are two major types of dieseases, Infectious & Non-Infectious. They are both diffrent.
Infectious means the virus, disease or sickness can be spread eaisly, say if someone had an infectious diesease on their hand like a cold virus and then they touched someone else with it then that cold virus will spread to that person, and then that person someones to touch someone else then it would spread to that person, keep this cold virus away by washing your hands and body.
Non-infectious means it is 99.99% (Maybe 100%) not able to spread. It will only happen on one person, a non-infectious disease for example is skin cancer, it would happen to only the body that has skin cancer, it would be impossible to cause skin cancer on another person if you have the skin cancer. It is also put on the person if they have a poor diet. You can keep this skin cancer away if you have sun screen or eating food.
