Canadian Charter of
Rights and Freedoms
By Dora
The Canadian Charter of Rights and
Freedoms is important in my opinion because if we didn’t have the Canadian
Charter of Rights and Freedoms we could be a very strict country. I like having
our rights and freedoms because it gives us a say in what we want, and we don’t
need to do what someone tells us to do. The rights and freedoms give a lot of
respect to us. Everyone in Canada is equal.
The Freedoms of Canada
We have a conscience, which means we
have a voice in what we say. We can choose our own religion, our own thoughts,
and beliefs. We have our own opinion, expressions, and we can speak any
language as long as we know French or English. We have our own peace, and
association. Association can be a group of people organizing something they
believe in for a purpose. These are nice freedoms to have, knowing we can speak
our own language, have our own opinions on thoughts and beliefs.
The Rights
of Canada
When we are 18, we are allowed to
start voting. The governments talks about purpose of Canada at least once a
year. You can start an election to be the mayor or apart of the government when
we are 18 and you can be a part of government up to 5 years. You may be with
the government for over 5 years if it during war. When you are a citizen of
Canada, you have the right to enter Canada, leave Canada, and live in Canada.
You are allowed to move to any part of Canada as well. Teacher or police
officers have the right to arrest you or give you detention. You have the right
to live a life, liberty, and have security unless you’re cause an injustice.
You shouldn't have any cruel or harm punishment. Every single person in Canada
is equal. The official languages are English and French. You may speak any
language as long as you know how to speak English or French. All the rights and
freedoms apply to everyone equally. Some rights and freedoms don’t apply to
aboriginals as they are given their own rights and freedoms.
