Athlete’s foot also called tinea pedis is a fungal infection of the foot It cause peeling redness and inching burning and sometimes blisters and sores. Athlete’s foot is a very common infection. The fungus grows best in a warm moist environment such as shoes, socks, swimming pools, locker rooms, and the floors of public showers. It is most common in the summer and in warm, humid climates. It occurs more often in people who wear tight shoes and who use community bathes and pools

Why Was Smoking Invented?

On October 15, 1492, Christopher Columbus was offered a little bit of dried tobacco leaves as a gift from the American Indians that he encountered. Smoking was originally made for Indians. Many Indians were offered tobacco and some humans were. In the 1600’s tobacco was so popular and they were good as gold (literally) but then it got worse in our times. It’s so bad it now causes cancer in our days and since that happen, most kids say: Why did they invent smoking even though its so bad?

How are video games made??

Sooooooooooooooooooo, you wanna make a video game, HUH? well DO YOU??!! Sorry that happens sometimes… *clears throat* well, long story short, it’s hard. First things first. Three words. Story. World. Characters. If you make levels first, things could potentially turn into a bomb of budget loss, and problems. Coding- there are many video game making software programs so there is less coding. The more complicated the game is, the more coding. The better the graphics, the more advanced the coding gets. And writing code from scratch, usually = better game.

How Does WIFI Work?

WIFI stand for wireless fidelity. It uses microwave signals to link to another computer or websites. WIFI works almost anywhere in the world. A person can walk room to room on the internet with WIFI. There were five people who made WIFI here are their names: Terrance Percival, John Deane, Graham Daniels, Diethelm Ostry and John O’Sullivan. WIFI is a high speed internet connection without the use of cable and wires. The technology uses radio to transmit to your computer or router.    

Why Does Fats Taste So Good in Foods?

The main reason fats taste so good is because the fats mostly helps you on enjoying the type of flavor of food and tasting. But how does fat do that? The main reason is because they are able to dissolve and concrete flavor and odor chemicals. And of course the fat foods have a very special mouth feel, that’s basically one of the reasons why fats taste so good. Our bodies also absorb the fat foods at a very slow rate. And the fats use that special mouth feel to make it taste so good.

Why were Vikings houses built the way they were? By: Jorja, Keely, Alison, Matthew.P

Vikings had to find local materials to make their houses. They had about 30 to 50 people in each house. Viking houses had one room with cooking fire in the middle. Their houses were also named longhouses (but not the Wendat type longhouse)

Their houses were made out of wood stone or blocks of turf (roof). One half of the house was for people and the other part was for animals. The main building was up to 30 meters long. They slept on raised platforms. Most Vikings lived in long houses. Their roof was made out of grass because enemies would not see their house. Poor Vikings houses were made of a mixture of wet soil, clay, animal poo and straw.

  Why was Alcatraz made?

The name Alcatraz is derived from the Spanish word alcatraces.  in 1775 the Spanish explorer Juan Manuel. Alcatraz was a civil war base. In 1917 it was a WW1 prison. In 1934 it was opened as a federal penitentiary for the worst prisoners in America. If you went exploring the Island it would take lots of time to finish.  Alcatraz is beside the golden gate bridge. The famous prisoners were Al Capone, The Birdman of Alcatraz, Machine Gun Kelly. Family’s of people on Alcatraz get to visit 1 time a month. Some people that escaped were:  Morris and John Anglin, also Frank Morris escaped with the Angling brothers. People said that they escaped by a homemade raft but there was a boat that was not authorised to be there.  The life jackets were found on Angel Island and out on the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Turtles have shells to protect themselves. Turtles have shells to help protect from fossilised. Turtles are born with a shell. The shell is used for a weapon. The Leather back turtles shell is under their skin. Shells are used for camouflage. The shell is a home for them. People use the turtle shell for jewelry. All turtles have shells but some are different. Without a shell their ribs and other bones would fall out when they walk or swim. A shell is basically skin for its back. A turtle can’t walk or swim without a shell. They have a shell to hide from predators. We can’t stop them from having a shell. The shell is basically an outer rib of the turtle. Some turtles have a different type of shell. Turtles are dinosaurs.

Why does Buffalo get more snow then we do?

More snow falls because it’s colder there. Buffalo is in the USA there is about 4-5 feet of snow. We don’t get more snow than Buffalo because north winds blows across the land and doesn’t get much moisture. Wind blows from North West and south east. Buffalo gets of it snow from Lake Erie called lake effect snow. Wind comes from the WSW in winter and brings cold air and picks up moisture. 11 hours ago the buffalo news announced first snow storm of season could give buffalo a years’ worth of snow (8 feet in three days)

 MineCraft was created by a guy named notch. Minecraft was also invented by notch mojang and JINXS. THE FIRST ITEM THAT MINECRAFT HAD IN THE WORLD WAS A WOOD BLOCK AND THE SWORD. FOR THE PAST FEW YEARS GREGERY BYLOS HAS BEEN DOING PRETY WELL OUT OF MINECRAFT. MINECRAFT WAS INVENTED WHEN NOTCH INVITED TWO OF HIS FRIENDS TO THE GAME MINECRAFT. His company mineplex runs a server network for fans of the massively successful construction game as well as giving players all over the globe the chance to build in the same worlds together bylos and the staff have developed of costum minecraft modes.

Why Do Our Dead Family Members Visit Us In Our Dreams?

If you were wondering yes it is possible for family members to visit us in our dreams.

Your dead family members visit you because they want you to know they’re going to be fine and that you are going to be fine to.

They visit you in your dreams because they are still concerned about you and what decisions you are going to make in your life. If your dead family members or a really close friend with you who died visits you it will not happen that often.  They will only visit you in your dreams because it is an ideal place for them to make contact with you. When you are dreaming you are in a relaxed state so it’s easier for them to get your attention. While dreaming you are disconnected from physical awareness and more connected to your super conscious if you are lucid dreamer.

Your subconscious is a part of your mind that creates your dreams and is the part of your mind that operates without awareness and you do not have active control at that time.

Lucid Dreaming is Realizing Your Dreaming while the dream is going on and sometimes that can frighten you if you wake up too quickly.

Lucid dreaming can also mean something like this, if you are inside a dream, and say a purple giraffe with blue dots runs across the road in front of you and you stop and say "This is a Dream", that is what Lucid Dreaming is and what it means.

Spirit communication feels very different than a dream it almost feels like as if it is real. Usually with spirit communication the person who died will simply speak with you and tell you they are in a better place now. When they are talking to you they could be sitting on your bed, standing in front of your bed, calling on you a phone or they could be talking to you in a place that both of you really liked.

If one of your family members ever came to talk to you in your dream the message they will tell you will always be short and they will get right to the point.

  

Are Fruits Healthy??????

Most of the people in our country (Canada) know that fruits are healthy as some of the people that come to my class in Coronation Public School bring a type of fruit for the morning snack/lunch/afternoon snack. And most of the people at my country know that fruits are the default health foods. The reason there the default health foods because they were quite tasty back then and were easy to find in forests and jungles. Also, the easiest foods to prepare is nature’s fast food because the main reason is that there so easy to prepare. They were also the most perfect food on the entire surface to eat, and pretty hard to find. Most people say that apples come from forests and bananas come from banana trees. And yes. Fruits are always healthy, all fruits are healthy anyways. The fruits taste depends on the type of fruit. There even used to make other types of food. The main reason fruits are healthy is because most fruits are loaded up with vitamins, minerals, and other types of nutrients.

Why do we see colours?

Our eyes and brain work together to turn light into colour.  Light receptors in the eye send messages to the brain which produces familiar sensations of colour. Newton saw that colour is not inherent in objects. The face of an object reflects some of the light and absorbs the rest. We see only the colour reflecting for instance an apple is not red we see the red reflecting of off the apple the rest is absorbed.  An object is white when it reflects all the wavelengths and an object is black when it absorbs all the wavelengths. Red green and blue are additive primary colours of the spectrum. Red green and blue light also produce pure white. All the light that is visible can be produced. The retina is covered in millions of light sensitive cells. The retina is the part of the brain that produces colour. Some of the light sensitive cells are shaped like cones.  Some of the cells are shaped like rods. Colour shines as light and sunlight as we see it, it is colourless. In reality a rainbow the colours are present in white light. Light comes from a source and that source is the sun. All the invisible colours that the sun produces shine onto the object. An apple for instance the light hits the apple and we see red.

Why Do We Have Nightmares

We have nightmares because while you sleep your eyes move back and forth and it sometimes causes nightmares. Every 90 minutes your brain goes from non REM (Rapid Eye Movement) to REM. Things that upset you or scare you can give you nightmares like if you are scared of ghosts it can give you a nightmare. If a person you know dies you might get a nightmare of them dying again. Some kids need a stuffed animal or a toy to keep them happy. Adults can even get nightmares about their kids getting sick. Did you know that sometimes taking new medicines can give you nightmares? If you notice you are getting lots of nightmares you should tell your parents. There is a cure for too many nightmares you can take sleep aids and that will give you less nightmares. Animals cannot have nightmares but they can dream. When you wake a pet up when it is sleeping it might hiss or growl because you scared it. Nightmares can make you move in your sleep because you will try to protect yourself. When you watch a scary movie you will probably get a nightmare. Some scary movies are Freddy VS Jason, Chucky,The Conjuring and The Purge Anarchy. There is nothing to prevent nightmares.

Why Do People Snore

Snoring is caused when you can’t move air though the nose or the mouth freely. It can also be caused by poor sleep posture or      narrowing of the airway. The sound is produced by vibrating structures of the upper airway. Snoring can be stopped by elevating the head. Snoring occurs more frequently in men and people who are overweight. Some people only snore during allergy seasons. Alcohol intake, smoking, and certain medications can increase muscle relaxation leading to more snoring. Snoring can also be caused by age as you reach middle age and beyond, your throat becomes narrower, and the muscle tone in your throat decreases. Babies snore because their throat is developing.

A) We should remember because the people who fought in the war fought for us to have freedom and died for us to have happy lives. These people fought for Canada to have freedom. If the Canadians did not win the war we all would be speaking German right now.

B) Whom do we remember? We should remember all the Canadian soldiers and people apart of the war. Remember the people who were willing to fight for people they didn’t know and fight for their country.

  

C) What should we remember? Why all these people fought in the war. Who the soldiers fought for. How many Canadian soldiers and Canadian people died doing something good for their people and their country.  

D)How do we remember? We remember this day and all those people who risked their lives to save ours by wearing poppies. Poppies are worn of a symbol of remembrance. Poppies are a reminder the blood red flowers that still grows in France Belgium. Poppies are a reminder who died fighting for peace. We wear poppies as a reminder of horrors, conflict and preciousness of peace they fought to achieve.

People sacrificed themselves for our country. If we don’t remember all the sacrifices will be meaningless. The Canadian soldiers died for us. Fathers, son, daughters were all killed in the action of the war. Soldiers sacrificed themselves to give us freedom.

Whom do we remember?

We remember the RCAF pilots. We remember all the fallen soldiers. We remember the men and women who fought for our country. All of the volunteers who served our country. People around the world who sacrificed themselves. The people who experienced blood and carnage. The Prisoners of Wars who suffered in World War 2.

What should we remember?

The loss of comrades during the world war. The military strategies used to defend Canada. The captured Canadian soldiers at World War 2. The defence against the Nazi attack. We remember Colonel John McCrae and his poem. The loss of Canadians on Juno beach.

How do we remember?

On November 11 we pause for 2 minutes in silence. We wear poppies on November 11 to appreciate the fallen soldiers. We go to memorials and ceremonies. We pay honour to those who respond to our Country's needs. We work in peace every day of the year. We represent all of the navy, army, air force, and merchant marines.

Why remember

We need to remember hundreds of thousands of people who died for us. We remember because they sacrificed there life for us. And if they came back they had to live the rest of there lives with physical and mental scars of war.

What  we should remember

I think that we should remember June 1944. Normandy the big offensive against Nazi Germany in France. It was the turning point of WW2

If we lost that fight we might have not won the war. 

In my opinion they are the most brave people in the world. They were running on a beach with the most powerful guns in the world shooting at them

How do we remember

We remember by putting a poppy on our heart and having 2 minutes of silence and also having parades and sermons and going to the war memorial site and putting flowers on the grave.

Remembrance day

The sacrifice of those one hundred thousand Canadians lives will be meaningless. All the Canadians who died for us. They left their homes families and friend and everybody they care about. Some of the them were killed in action and wounded badly. The people who returned were forced to remember the scares of the war. 

Canadians volunteered to serve our country. War always meant death and away form their family. They join the war to care for the ones that are wounded. 

We should remember the armies military and soldiers because they fought for us and the battles they fought. The first battle was at Ypres Belgium on April 22 1915. The people that sacrifice their families to go to war.

On November 11^th we celebrate Remembrance day. The red flower is called a Poppies they also represent Remembrance.  We also do two minutes of silence.

            

Titanic Summary

2,200 passengers and crew members boarded the Titanic. Some paid more than $4,000 for the trip, while many of the crew did not even earn$1,000 in a year. The Titanic rubbed against an iceberg for ten seconds. Several small cracks appeared instantly, and water started to pour in side. Another passenger ship was just 20 minutes away. However its radio operator was not on duty, no one heard the signal. Another ship the Carpathia was 4 hours away. When the Carpathia arrived at 4.00 A.M. It was too late for many passengers, it had already sunk. They did not that the Titanic’s ship only had room for 1,200 people, 705 people survived the wreck, the remaining 1,517 people died.

In 1985 a team of scientists found the wreckage of the titanic 12,500 feet beneath the sea.

People thought the titanic was unsinkable because it had 16 water compartments. So 2,200 people went on and saw an iceberg that hit on them for 10 seconds. A 20 min. away ship did not get the call but a 4 hour away ship got the call but was 2 hours late but it did save 705 people.

Topic: Laptops

Have you ever imagined being able to keep your own laptop? It would be good for schools to let children keep a laptop so they can access all their work at home. I think this would be a great idea!                                                                                                                        

I think all students grade 5 and up should be able to keep a laptop to catch up on assignments that can only be accessed through the student’s computer. This opportunity would be best for family’s who don’t have a computer that is able to access the students work. This would also be good because the teacher can access the students work and see how much they have gotten done at home.  

This would also be good for students because they could practice typing over the weekend to get prepared for harder and more detailed writing. The more a student practices there writing the faster they will type and the more they practice the more detailed there writing will become.

The last reason is this allows students to research facts for assignments. The fastest way for a student to research facts is through the internet. If students research facts on the internet it will take them 20 minutes. If students have to look up facts though books it will take them 1 hour. 

I think giving students a laptop is a great idea. Students could finish assignments at home that can only be accessed through the schools network. It would be good for students to practice typing. It would also be for students to look up facts.

Hi my name is Kiera and I want to talk about wearing are costumes for this year’s Halloween.  Have you ever seen your faces when we wear are costumes? A lot of kids love wear their costumes. It is really fun and we are telling you that we love to wear your costumes.  I think it is a really good idea to where our costumes!!!

Teachers always say that we always should be creative with everything.  We love being creative with your costumes.  It is fun to have costumes to wear at school.  Kids and adults love to dress up. A lot of kids love Halloween.

It is fun to wear our costumes to school and we get to scare your teacher.  Every year I see smile in everyone face.  I hear I like that costumes, I want to be that next year, that gives them an idea of what they like.  It is fun to costumes a lot of people like to wear costumes.  Some people like to dress up because it is fun and not everyone gets to dress up so we should be thankful that we have the change to wear a costume.

Sometimes not all of us get to go with your friends on Halloween.  We live at different places. When we wear them we can show them at school. 95 % would have a smile on their face when they get to school because they could not wait to put on their costume and show everyone.

I think wearing our Halloween costume would be good and we would just love you even more if you did this.

Topic: More primary and junior sports at Coronation

For Coronation public school

Have you ever thought Coronation doesn’t have many sports for primaries and juniors?  This could be important for primaries and juniors because they might want more sports to play here. Who knows they could be getting tired of only having dodge ball, soccer or volley ball to play. I think this is a fantastic idea and the primaries and juniors at coronation could think so too.

Coronation needs more sports for juniors and Primary’s to play, especially primary’s because they need to be more active like the intermediates here at this school. It seems like to me that intermediates get more sports and are more active than any other child in the school because they have more sports than any other division. Juniors should be able play more sports, dodge ball at lunch like the Primary’s do, football, flag football and more. Primaries should be able to play more sports, volleyball, soccer, football and more.

On this topic I think we should also have more teachers to teach and run the sports at coronation. Here it is the almost the same  four or six teachers teaching each sport, we need other teachers to run these sports so we can have more sports. For example we can have Mr. Durning and Mr. Ferguson teach basketball, Ms. Simpson and Ms. Mattin teach volleyball and so on for other teachers and sports. My opinion is we should have two teachers running each sport and have more than only the same six to four teachers teaching the sports.

People at Coronation should give more thought to having more, better or newer sports here at the school. Just because juniors and primaries are younger than the intermediates it does not mean they get to play less sports than the bigger division, that means that they should get the same amount of sports or more than that and every division should get the same sports as each other so everyone can be as healthy as they need to be.

In conclusion it is a fantastic idea that we need more primary and junior sports for here at Coronation. If we get more primary and junior sports here at Coronation then the kids here could stay healthy, be active and have fun. That is why we should have more primary and junior at Coronation.

Centers in gym

Students should get to do centers have you done centers before if you did? Did you like it? Think if you had fun don’t you think kids can get to do that to? I love centers in gym class it was so much fun :)!!! I totally think kids should stay active by running and doing centers

If we do more centers in gym kids can learn to play more sports and do more things. Kids get overweight if they don’t get enough exercise, we can prevent this by schools setting up centers including the following jump rope, basketball, workout, volleyball, scoops. We did this a couple of times and it was fun. On Friday October 24 2014 we did centers and the things we did were basketball, volley ball, badminton, skipping ropes and scoops. The sports you put in can help the kids with outside of school sports. The kids will do better outside of school and parents don’t you want your kids to do better and enjoy the sports you paid money for?

Lots of kids hate running because it is hard work for them, problem is they don’t run or exercise enough then running hurts them. I think we should do laps in gym before anything it will build leg muscles so they can run. There are very few people who run a lot in my class; it makes playing man hunt not as fun as I could be but it is what it is. I try to run as much as I can but sometimes I forget. Kids also don’t like running because it tiers them out if you do it more then it won’t tier you out so much, you will still get tired because your muscles are working a lot but you should still run. If you don’t get active other kids can make fun of you and not let you play certain games like manhunt or soccer or tag/freezetag.it will make kids more energized and in a better mood, now don’t you want you kids and students to be happy and always have a smile on their face. You should encourage kids to be happy and active, when kids are happy they can focus better on other work and assignments and if they focus better that means better grades and happier parents and for the teachers no angry comments only happy comments.

There are so many possible things you can put out, some of those things people will love and put their best effort but some things people will hate and won’t try, if you don’t try you will do lousy if you try you will do better. Sometimes teachers may put out mats for push-ups and sit ups or crunches burpeys and much more, you should not think it’s a punishment it is not they are just trying to get you in shape so you can do games of man hunt or basketball or maybe even   doge ball for example I think some kids like basketball or volley ball and some gym teachers don’t do centers so that the can practice those sports. You can teach those sports as a center to. That’s what most teachers don’t know, the teachers don’t know that the students are still learning that particular sport but are also learning many other skills. The students enjoy the centers more than learning one thing at a time

I think it is a great idea to do centers because the kids will get better physical education. The teachers can also make the kids do laps so they become better runners.  That’s why I think doing centers is a good idea, kids should be allowed to run around and do a lot more and centers provide that for them. You want your kids to enjoy gym so they can get a better grade in gym. Your kids will come back with a smile and tell you all about their day.

Have you ever walked your dog? Well some people are considering to not letting dogs into  some parks and places.

Dogs should be able to go anywhere they want because the owner always have a hold of the dog and the dog is always   under control .People don’t need to worry because most dogs are not aggressive or rough so most  of them are not harmful. Many dogs are very nice and gentle.

Dogs are just like humans they need to walk too so if people are not letting dogs walk to some parks and places it is not fair at all because dogs should be able to walk many places and parks. Most dogs are very nice and would not think of harming people

Most people are kicking dogs out of parks because they scare some kids but most of kids love dogs. And if there is a couple of aggressive dogs then the owner would tell the children to not pet the dog and the dog could not get of the leash or harness so if there is a aggressive dog I could not hurt any people. People should be able to walk their dogs at parks.

I think letting dogs in some parks is a very great idea. And most dogs are very nice. And people do not need to worry about where they can walk there dog because people should have the right to walk their dog where ever and whenever they want.
